It’s Mousse Season- Grab your avocados

Chocolate Avocado Mousse Pie

Crust (for one pie):

  • 1½ cups almond flour
  • ¼ teaspoon Celtic sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ cup walnut oil
  • 2 tablespoons organic, raw agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1.         In a medium bowl, combine almond flour, salt and baking soda

2.         In a small bowl, combine walnut oil, agave and vanilla

3.         Stir wet ingredients into dry

4.         Pat dough into a 9½-inch glass pie dish

5.         Bake at 325° for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden brown


Mousse (for one pie):

  • 2 avocados (pits and skin discarded)
  • 1 cup coconut cream (place 1-2 cans coconut milk in fridge overnight; scrape cream off the top once it has solidified)
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup organic, raw agave syrup
  • ¼ cup local honey
  • 1 ½  tablespoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Toasted coconut to garnish


  1. Place all ingredients (other than toasted coconut) in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. Once crust has cooled, spread mousse into pie crust. Refrigerate until it solidifies (preferably at least a few hours, but it can be eaten soft as well).
  3. Garnish with toasted coconut, if desired.
